GOSHEN - The ladies of Orange County's Song of the Valley Chorus, Sweet Adelines International, celebrated the 50th anniversary of signing its original charter, the organization announced.
On Feb. 26, 1969, a group of young ladies were approved as the Middletown Chapter Chorus of the worldwide organization of women singing four-part acappella harmony, barbershop style.
The group now rehearses in Goshen on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Valley View Care Center, located at 2 Glenmere Cove Road.
Hundreds of area women have performed with the group at patriotic events, fairs, hospitals, nursing homes, private events and many shows.
The members of Song of the Valley Chorus love the harmony and "ring" of barbershop chords, and the camaraderie that develops when singing and performing in a chorus.
Ladies who like to sing, from teens to senior citizens, are always welcome at the rehearsals.
