GOSHEN — Would you know what to look for if you suspected your teen of using vapes, drugs or alcohol?

The Goshen Central School District, in partnership with The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County (ADAC), will host “Hidden Mischief” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, in the Goshen High School Library.

The Hidden Mischief program uses a simulated teen “bedroom” that has a number of hidden drug and alcohol paraphernalia and references. Adult participants are given the opportunity to search the bedroom and note what they find.

Parents will also have the opportunity to view the electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) display and learn about the apparatuses used by youth for vaping, including the extremely popular Juul device.

Prevention educators from ADAC will explain each of the hidden items and educate participants about signs to watch for if they suspect their teen is using, indicators of high risk behaviors, and resources in the community for help.

This program is part of the Goshen Central School District’s ongoing anti-vaping efforts.
