This past month, Kiwanians from all over the Hudson Valley provided relief for hurricane victims in the Carolinas. In Chester, members from the Kiwanis Key Club, Builders Club, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and Student Council Chester Academy joined to collect needed items. The clubs placed boxes in classrooms, sent flyers home, and created posters to encourage donations of non-perishable food, school supplies, clothing, and more. Teachers held contests to see which class would collect the largest number of items. This effort was coordinated by Chester Academy administrators, teachers, and students, and resulted in more than 50 boxes of items transported to the affected area. In the meantime, clubs in the Hudson River West Division were also collecting supplies, including gift cards and checks. Pictured are members of the Chester Kiwanis Key Club and Builders Club getting boxes ready to ship. (Photo provided)
