Lynn Stalter of Chester, N.Y., dies at age 80

Lynn Stalter of Chester, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill, N.Y. She was 80.

Daughter of the late Joseph Kelemen and Florence Rogowskas Kelemen, she was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 13, 1938.

She was a former Bookkeeper for Robert and Christina Dow in Tuxedo Park but spent most of her life as a homemaker. As a teenager, she was on the CYO State Championship baseball team and as a senior in high school won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award. She was a member and Deaconess of Craigville Bible Church, belonged to the Civil Air Patrol in Rockland County, was a member of the Blooming Grove Seniors and a member of Warwick Valley Quilter's Club. She loved sewing and quilting and was a die-hard New York Mets fan and especially liked Gil Hodges. Lynn always said: "Home and family are the joy of my life."

Her husband, Peter A. Stalter Jr., predeceased her on July 4, 2013.

She is survived by her sons, Peter A. Stalter III and his wife, Laurie, of Pine Island, N.Y.; Shawn J. Stalter and his wife, Mary, of Chester; Eric C. Stalter and his wife, Denise, of Port Jervis, N.Y.; brothers, Joseph Keleman of Suffern, N.Y.; William Kelemen of Haverstraw, N.Y., Dennis Kelemen of Thiells, N.Y., and Gilbert Kelemen of Piermont, N.Y.; grandchildren, Peter, Wesley, Eric, Douglas and Jamie; and great grandchildren, Kaleb, Corey and Avery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, N.Y., with the funeral service beginning at 7:45 p.m. Thursday evening. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.
