John N. Ziobro of Goshen, N.Y., dies at age 80

John N. Ziobro of Goshen, N.Y., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. He was 80.

Son of the late Stanley Ziobro and the late Tessie (Grzywaczewski) Ziobro, he was born Oct. 4, 1937, in Florida, N.Y.

He retired from the Newburgh City School District as a physical education teacher. He was proud to be the first varsity soccer coach for Newburgh and a soccer All-American for Ithaca College in 1961. He was also inducted into the Florida High School Hall of Fame. He pitched two no hitters in fast pitch softball, bowled a 299, and shot a trophy 11-point buck. Most important of all he was a devoted husband, great father, and grandfather who loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Eve Ziobro, at home; daughter, Laura Rodstrom and husband, Dan, of Furlong, Pa., and son, John Ziobro and wife, Tina, of Westtown, N.Y.; sisters, Frances Weeks of Elgin, Ill., and Theresa Park of Framingham, Mass.; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Rodstrom and Gabriella and John Ziobro; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Feb. 11 and 12 at the Donovan Funeral Home, in Goshen. A Funeral Mass was held Feb. 12, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Goshen.

Burial was private with the family.
