To the Editor:

I want to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year. I also want to thank everyone for re-electing me to be your county legislator.

As we continue to move back into the government center, I look forward to working on a few key initiatives concerning public safety and economic development. Public safety remains our top priority. Funding has been provided to enhance our monitoring of those convicted of spousal abuse. School safety funding, $250,000, is in place to study and to begin the process of further protecting our students, teachers, and first responders by connecting school cameras to the 911 Center for use during an emergency.

The county executive and the legislature are fully committed to strengthening our economic development mission. Funding is in place to hire a director of economic development.

Please contact me with any problems, issues, or ideas. My e-mail is jodonnell@orangecountygov.com. I am in the process of getting a new cell phone number. As soon as I get it I will post it. 2018 will be a busy and exciting year. I look forward to representing all of you and working on your behalf.
