Sara Green, a proud lifelong resident of Chester, N.Y., died on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, after a short, but difficult battle with cancer. She was 53.

In her final hours she was surrounded by her loving husband, and her two daughters. She was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend.

Sara was born on March 25, 1964, in Goshen, New York, to Marjorie Lutjens and Lawrence Armes.

Sara married Scott Green, also a lifelong Chester resident, on Sept. 10, 1988, and built a beautiful life and family together. She is predeceased by her father, Lawrence Armes. Sarah is survived by her husband, Scott, daughters, Samantha and Stephanie, her mother Marjorie, of Chester, and her golden retrievers, Shelby and Sadie, and cats Howard and Lenni.

Sara spent most of her life taking care of others, with many years spent as an active member of the Chester Presbyterian Church, being a deacon, elder, and volunteering at their food pantry. Sara’s pride and joy were her two girls, as being a mother was her entire life. Anyone who knew Sara knew that they could find her rooting on her girls from the sidelines of the softball field, watching kids and adults fight over her famous chocolate chip cookies. She will forever be remembered as a kind and generous woman.

Visitation was held Dec. 8 and 9 at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Monroe, N.Y. Services were held Dec. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church of Chester with the Rev. Erin Moore officiating.

Burial followed in the family plot in the Chester Community Cemetery (Hill Section).

The family has a request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Relay for Life Team, who are honoring Sara and the life that she lived: http://main/acsevents,org.gotoCollenHoraninmemoryofSaraGreen. Or if you preferred, checks may be made out to “Relay for Life Pine Bush” and forwarded to Colleen Horan at 15 Beechwood Drive, Goshen, NY 10924.
